Dogswell and Catswell Pet Treats Voluntarily Recalled
Dogswell and Catswell jerky treats made with chicken or duck and with "Best Before" date of Jan. 28, 2015, or earlier are being voluntarily recalled by their manufacturer because they may contain trace amounts of an antibiotic residue not approved for use in the United States.
The withdrawn products include Chicken Breast and Duck Breast jerky under the Breathies, Happy Heart, Happy Hips, Mellow Mut, Shape Up, Veggie Life, Vitality and Vitakitty brands.
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets discovered the antibiotics during routine product sampling. According to Arthur Dogswell LLC's spokeperson, Brad Armistead, "There is no evidence that products containing trace amounts of this antibiotic pose a health risk for pets or humans."
The company is offering consumers refunds for the products under recall. You will need to have the packaging to provide the company with the UPC bar code and manufacturing information printed on the bag. For more information, please visit Dogwell's frequently asked questions on their website, call the company at 888-559-8833, or send an email to info@dogswell.com.
