Owner Says Dog Nearly Died on United Airlines Flight

A pet owner traveling on a United Airlines flight with her dog said that her pet's traveling conditions caused heat stroke and left the animal within an inch of its life. The owner, who moved from San Diego to Boston in July, says the airline promised that her dog would never be exposed to temperatures greater than 85 degrees for more than 45 minutes. However, upon her arrival in Boston, she found the animal was suffering from heat stroke.

The dog survived the extreme conditions, but left his owner with a $2700 bill after a three-day stay in intensive care. United Airlines said they would cover the medical bills but later refused, saying that the owner had refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement. "I still want to be reimbursed," said owner Janet Sinclair, "but I'm not going to keep quiet."
