Mountain Lion Suspected in Pet Deaths in Santa Barbara
A Santa Barbara resident says her two pet pygmy goats were killed by a mountain lion, and California State Fish and Wildlife officials say that, while the report is inconclusive, pet owners should keep a close eye on their pets. The goats were found dead near her home, and both had large puncture wounds on their necks.
Officer Anthony Nunez of Santa Barbara City Animal Control said that, while Animal Control cannot confirm that the attack was from a mountain lion, it is still a possibility. State Fish and Wildlife officials confirmed that they have issued the pet owner a depredation permit to kill a mountain lion if it is seen on her property.
