PMI Nutrition Voluntarily Recalls Red Flannel Cat Food
Pet food manufacturer PMI Nutrition has voluntarily recalled some 20 lb bags of its Red Flannel brand cat food. No pet illnesses have been linked to the cat food, and the company said that the recall is a cautionary measure after routine testing showed possible salmonella contamination.
States affected by the recall are Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. The recalled packages have a best-by date and lot number or 05 06 14 096 13 SM L2 1A, which is printed on the lower back side of the bag in a white box on the right hand side. The UPC code on the packages is 7 42869 00058 5.
The pet food can be returned to its place of purchase for a refund or replacement. PMI Nutrition is available to answer pet owner's questions from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, at 800-332-4738.
