Animals Escape Pet Store Fire in NJ
Several animals are safe after being rescued by police, fire fighters, and good Samaritans. Pet Center, a pet store in Franklin, New Jersey, caught fire early on a Tuesday morning. Lucky for them, the store was spotted by Nancy Nelson, who was driving to work at the time. As police and fire fighters arrived on the scene, a group of concerned pet lovers joined the fray to rescue the animals.
"It was organized chaos," said Nelson. "Everybody was doing a job. Animal people come together very quickly when it comes to a rescue situation as people know what to do." The animals survived and are in good health, said veterinarian Michael Ramieri. The animals are currently staying a nearby center and are awaiting adoption.
